Who We Are

Our Story

8 friends having fulfilled their family commitments and having more time, decided to come together and get involved in giving back to society and the community at large. Our journey thus began in the year 2004 with a firm resolve; We Can and so Me must! Giving back provided us with a sense of purpose, while we enriched the lives of those around us.

The Journey
We decided Education would be our thrust, especially the education of the girl child. We believed that education is not just a recognized fundamental right: it’s a powerful force to make a breakthrough from the cycle of poverty to bring about change in society. We hoped to bring about that change and make the difference.

With a single minded vision we marched ahead to make a difference in the lives of the children from the most neglected and less traveled areas – the slums of the twin cities. Schools were identified and their managements supported, we rejoiced in the joy of the families benefited.

Many challenges of access remain for the disadvantaged children at every level and we must strive to lower the barrier for the girl child, children with disabilities and those belonging to the under privileged class, so as to attain education and learning on par with the best.

Our vision is in ensuring all students, and not just the most privileged or gifted acquire the knowledge and skills that they need. We are indebted to our sponsors, supporters, advisors who have had unwavering faith in us and supported us in all our endeavors to make this a reality.

We are forever grateful to our Founder Trustee member Ms. Maya Bhoopal, whose  has left a void due to her demise on account of cancer. A founder member remembered for her compassion, grace, charm and commitment, her enthusiasm continues to inspire us.
